Brain on Books Letterpress Broadside

$35.00

Book bans are on the rise, but we believe reading should expand minds, not restrict them. Brain on Books reimagines the famous 1980s “This is your brain on drugs” campaign, turning the message on its head. Instead of harm, reading fosters critical knowledge, inspiration, and growth.

This limited edition print features a stack of well-known banned titles, spanning from beloved classics to contemporary works. The imagery of a vibrant brain paired with books celebrates the power of literature to challenge, educate, and enrich.

Christy Nesja hand carved linoleum to create the images of the brains and the stack of books. These were run through our Vandercook SP15 with a split fountain of orange and magenta inks. All type was printed in a second run of black ink using a lock-up of metal type, wood type and ornaments.

  • Original concept, design and layout by Christy Nesja

  • Hand printed with hand-carved linoleum and handset type.

  • Paper: French, Pink Lemonade Pop Tone, 65 lb. cover, sustainably made in Michigan

  • Trim size: 8.5 × 11 inches

  • Packaged in a clear sleeve with backing board, ships flat.

  • Sold unframed

This piece is both a protest and a celebration—a reminder that books keep us curious, thoughtful, and free!
